Bus falls into river in Nepal, 14 killed

Fourteen passengers were killed when a bus lost control and plunged off the road into a nearby river in Nepal. The accident happened on Friday morning.

The Indian media NDTV, quoting local media, reported that the bus that was involved in the accident was an Indian bus and the 40 passengers on the bus, including the 14 killed, were all Indian citizens. Kathmandu is 110 km from the neighboring area where the accident took place.

A local police official said that the bus left the capital Kathmandu for the tourist area of ​​Pokhara in the early hours of Friday, and after reaching an area called Tanahun, it lost control and fell into the nearby Marsiangdi River. The bus is registered in Uttar Pradesh, India.

At least 16 people were injured in the accident. According to the police, they are being treated at a local hospital.

Earlier on July 12, two buses sank in the Trishuli river in Nepal due to a landslide. A total of 65 passengers of those two buses went missing. Only 7 of them were found.
