Clashes demand Mamata's resignation in West Bengal

Clashes and chases have taken place to demand the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The protesters also tried to enter the secretariat.

Anandabazar reported that on Tuesday there was a massive clash between police and protestors at Mahatma Gandhi Road, Kolkata Police Training School, Santragachi, Howrah Bridge. A law enforcement officer’s head was blown off by protesters’ pelting with bricks.

The Kona Expressway has been closed due to protests. Everyone tried to rush to the destination by metro due to the disruption of traffic on the road.

The students of West Bengal’s famous RG Kar Hospital have been protesting against the rape and murder of a female doctor for several days. It then turned into a movement for Mamata’s resignation. They took to the streets by writing slogans like ‘Dafa one demand one, Mamata’s resignation’ on placards.

On Tuesday, protesters tried to enter the West Bengal Secretariat in Nabanna. At that time there was a massive conflict. Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters. On the other hand, the protesters pelted bricks to resist the law and order forces.

Anandabazar reported that Chief Minister Mamata Mukherjee entered Sabibalay. He was staying there during the protest.

Opposition leader of West Bengal Subvendu Adhikari said that he will take a strict stand if the police torture the protesters. He said that he will stand by the students’ secretariat siege movement. If the police use force against the protestors and block them, block the road.

He also said that reports of atrocities are already coming from many places. If this continues then entire West Bengal will be paralyzed on Wednesday.
