Gautam Adani's letter to Dr. Yunus seeking electricity dues

The Chief Advisor of the Interim Government for the initial clearance of 800 million or 800 million dollars owed by the Adani Group to the Bangladesh Electricity Development Board. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has written to Muhammad Yunus.

Hindustan Times reported this news in a report on Tuesday (September 10).

Quoting Economic Times, the report said, in a letter (addressed to Dr. Yunus), Gautam Adani wrote, “We have fulfilled the promise made to Bangladesh.” But the lenders are now tough on us. I request your kind intervention for initial clearance of $800 million due from Bangladesh Electricity Development Board.

Gautam Adani also requested to pay the dues due to the sale of electricity on a regular basis.

According to Indian media, Adani owes 800 million dollars to the Bangladesh Electricity Development Board for supplying electricity for eight to nine months.

Adani Group supplies power to Bangladesh from a 1600 MW power plant located at Gada in Jharkhand. This electricity supply started from last June through a specific transmission line.

Noting that Adani Power has invested $2 billion in building state-of-the-art plants and associated transmission infrastructure, Gautam Adani wrote in the letter, “I would like to reiterate our commitment to the energy security and infrastructure development of your country (Bangladesh).

He also appreciated the support and cooperation received from local authorities, communities and stakeholders in Bangladesh.
