Semiconductor factory for national security is being built in India

First National Security Semiconductor Fabrication Factory (FAB) is being built in India. The factory, to be built under a contract with the US, will supply chips for the US, its allies and the Indian military. It is known that this factory named ‘Shakti’ will be built in 2025.

Recently, the President of the country Joe Biden and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi met in the state of Delaware, USA. A joint statement was later issued on the contents of the meeting. There, the issue of building a security semiconductor manufacturing plant came up.

Semiconductors are considered to be the driving force of the current technological era. It can conduct electricity under certain conditions. Chips are made of semiconductors. This chip is used to make various electronic devices including mobile phone, laptop. In keeping with the technology, the importance of the semiconductor field is increasing gradually in the present world.

According to the joint statement, the main purpose of this factory is to manufacture infrared, gallium nitride and silicon carbide semiconductors. This factory will be built to focus on various sectors including advanced sensor technology, communication, next generation telecommunication system, environment friendly energy.

Modi is on a three-day visit to the US to attend the Indo-Pacific Strategic Alliance Quad summit. In between, they had a bilateral meeting at Biden’s Wilmington home on Saturday afternoon. In addition to bilateral issues, various issues of the international arena came up in the meeting.
