Interim government of Bangladesh will hold talks with political parties on October 5

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said in a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy today, “The Advisory Council will inform the political parties about the progress of the Commission’s work.”

The Advisory Council of the Interim Government will start a dialogue with the main political parties from next Saturday (October 5) on the work of the six commissions formed with the aim of reforming the country’s law and order situation.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said in a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy today, ‘The Advisory Council will inform the political parties about the progress of the Commission’s work. The advisers will consult with them (political leaders) on the law and order situation and take their advice.’

He expressed hope that a full-fledged commission would be formed in two-three days so that they can start working in full swing.

Responding to a question, the press secretary said that the heads of the commissions have already started their work and the terms of reference (TOR) of the commissions have already been finalized and the authorities concerned are looking for office space for the commissions.

Describing the dialogue as an ongoing process, he said major political parties would be invited to join the dialogue and the advisory council would talk to political leaders.

Shafiqul Alam said the reform commissions are expected to submit their respective reports by December 31 and then the advisory council will again discuss with the political parties.

Noting that the interim government welcomes criticism, he said the advisory council represents the people of the country and no one is above criticism.

In response to another question about the situation in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), the Press Secretary said, Chittagong Hill Tracts is a large area and he does not think there is any unstable situation in the hilly areas. He commented that the situation is very good now.
