Former Prime Minister and Awami League Chairperson Sheikh Hasina has not yet made a decision on whether she will return to contest the national elections, said her son Sajib Wazed Joy.

He said these things in an interview given to the American media Time.

Sheikh Hasina fled the country on August 5 after being ousted in the face of the student movement over quota reforms in government jobs. Then the Nobel laureate. An interim government was formed under the leadership of Muhammad Yunus.

Joy said that the mother is very upset and disappointed by the current situation in Bangladesh. All his hard work over the past 15 years is largely wasted.

Regarding the quota reform movement, Joy said, we all were surprised by the quota movement. I myself wanted the quote to be reformed. I said in WhatsApp group, 30% quota is too much, it should be reduced to 5%. Then some shouted, we are the grandchildren of freedom fighters. Then I joked, ‘That’s why I gave up 5%.’

Talking about the interim government, Joy said, if they want to run the country for a year or 18 months, then I would say it is the right decision.

More than five hundred people were killed by law and order forces in the quota reform movement. Several thousand were injured. That is why there is a demand to ban Awami League.

In this regard, Sajib Wazed Joy said, how to ban the oldest and largest political party in Bangladesh? It is not legally possible.

In response to a question, Joy said, I never had political ambitions. There is no decision yet whether to do politics in the future.
