Stanekzai: Strong Diplomacy Essential for Islamic Emirate

Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized in a program in Kabul the importance of expanding the interim government’s relations with other countries, adding that a strong diplomatic presence is currently a crucial need for the Islamic Emirate.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the third cohort of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Institute of Diplomacy, Stanekzai also stated that rebuilding the country after twenty years of war is a significant responsibility that must now be fulfilled properly.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs remarked, “The world now resembles a village. In a village, no one can live without interaction, sharing joy and sorrow, visiting each other, and engaging in trade. This is evident. It is essential, especially for the Islamic Emirate, to have strong diplomacy.”

According to this official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, although Afghanistan has made considerable economic progress over the past three years, more work remains to be done in this area.

Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai added, “The current pace is, in my opinion, not sufficient. It must be accelerated, which means we need to strengthen our relations with the world and engage in trade.”

In another part of his speech, Stanekzai emphasized the importance of modern and religious education in the country, stressing the need for special attention to this area.

Regarding the acquisition of modern and religious sciences, he stated, “Expanding knowledge and education is extremely important, particularly in an Islamic society like Afghanistan, which has endured forty years of war, damaging its schools, universities, and madrasas. In this situation, it is essential for the Islamic Emirate to work hard to make the country self-sufficient in terms of knowledge.”

In his speech, Stanekzai also highlighted the importance of assigning tasks to qualified individuals and strengthening the country’s military sectors, noting that military development requires special attention.
