What the US said about Imran Khan
The US State Department has reiterated its position on the ongoing legal proceedings against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying it is a matter for the Pakistani courts to decide.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said, “We have repeatedly said that the Pakistani courts will decide on the legal proceedings against the former Prime Minister.”
In a press briefing on Wednesday, the spokesman also rejected allegations of US involvement in the ouster of Imran Khan.
The allegations that the US had any role in removing him from power are “false.”
The spokesman made the comment in response to a journalist’s statement mentioning the involvement of US diplomat Donald Lur in the ouster of the former Prime Minister.
Imran, who has been imprisoned in Adiala Jail since August last year, has alleged that the US was behind his ouster in 2022.
