No one came to meet Imran Khan

Even in prison, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan had a very busy time.
On the day of the scheduled meeting, leaders and activists or family members used to flock to the prison to meet him. However, last Thursday was a different day in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Imran Khan spent the entire day in solitude. No party leader, family member, lawyer or member of the discussion committee came to meet him on the day of the scheduled interview.
For the first time in the last one and a half years, Imran was left completely alone on the day of the scheduled interview. According to the jail manual, Tuesday and Thursday are the days for meeting in the prison. But no one contacted the jail authorities on that day or submitted a list of names for approval.
PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry said that he contacted the jail authorities on the instructions of the head of the discussion committee, Omar Ayub, on Wednesday. Faisal said, “Despite waiting for a whole day, there was no response, as a result of which the discussion committee meeting could not be held.”
However, the prison authorities said that no PTI leader had contacted them for the last two days. A prison official said, “No request or list of visitors has been submitted in two days, and no one has come to meet the PTI founder.”
Jail sources also said that the PTI leadership usually submits a list of visitors to the jail authorities. However, no list has been submitted since Wednesday morning. The source said, “The discussion committee meeting does not fall under the jurisdiction of the jail authorities.”
Earlier, PTI leaders and lawyers used to visit the jail many times without permission. However, this time no representative took the initiative to come to Adiala Jail. Sources said that another opportunity to meet may arise during the hearing of Imran Khan’s Toshakhana-2 case.
