Kathmandu-Terai Expressway to Be Completed Within Deadline, Says Nepali Army

Kathmandu : The Nepali Army has affirmed that the construction of the Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhesh Fast Track (Expressway) will be completed within the stipulated deadline and without exceeding the estimated cost.
According to Project Director Dharmendra Kumar Jha, the 70.977-kilometre national pride project has achieved 43.6 percent physical progress and 44.72 percent financial progress so far. The project is being implemented under the direct supervision of the Nepali Army.As part of the Expressway project, more than 87 bridges are yet to be built – some featuring complex structural designs and reaching heights of up to 82 metres.
The Army has stated that the project is scheduled for completion by mid-April 2027, with a preliminary estimated cost of Rs 213 billion. Of the seven tunnels planned along the route, breakthroughs have already been achieved in two.Project Director Jha said the Nepali Army is making every possible effort to complete the project within the prescribed timeframe.Once completed, the expressway will serve as the shortest route linking the Kathmandu Valley with the central Tarai, significantly reducing travel time between the two regions.
