United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged Bangladesh's interim government to make every effort to make it inclusive. In a statement in New York early Tuesday morning, UN Secretary-General Stephen Dujarric said, 'As the country moves towards parliamentary elections, I believe the interim government should take into account the voices of women, youth and people as well as minority and indigenous communities in the coming weeks.' UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed the efforts of the interim government to hold peaceful parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. He said, 'He (UN Secretary General) has expressed full solidarity with the people of Bangladesh and called for full respect for their human rights.' Antonio Guterres stressed the need for a full, independent, impartial and transparent investigation into all acts of violence. An interim government was formed on August 8 after the government was overthrown in a popular uprising by students on August 5. During and after the fall of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, more than four hundred people, including the police, were killed.
