Kabul: Amid ongoing concerns over the forced deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, protesters in Chaman say that Pakistan is mistreating Afghans to an extreme degree and creating new problems for them every day.

They call on international human rights organizations to stop Pakistan’s oppression and to defend the rights of Afghan refugees.

Mohammad Wali, a member of the Chaman protest leadership, said: “Such cruel injustices have begun against Afghans in Pakistan that we cannot even describe. This must be stopped, and all domestic and international human rights bodies should prevent it and defend Afghans.”

Another protest member, Abdul Qudoos Azad, said: “The responsibility for the injustices against Afghans in Pakistan lies with the country’s authorities, and it must be stopped.”

The protesters, whose sit-in has now entered its second year, continue to emphasize their fundamental demand: movement at the Chaman-Spin Boldak gate without passports and visas.

Abdul Khaliq Haqmal, leader of the Chaman sit-in, stated: “Our fundamental demands are free movement across the Durand Line without passports and visas, stopping the deportation of Afghan refugees, and allowing trade as it was in the past. We are struggling for these demands.”

Previously, Pashtun nationalist parties and former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan had also called for an end to the forced deportation of Afghan refugees. However, not only has Pakistan accelerated this process, but it has also made life for Afghan refugees more difficult than ever before.
