Four new ministers sworn in, expanding PM Karki’s cabinet to eight

KATHMANDU: Four newly appointed ministers took the oath of office and secrecy on Monday at a ceremony held at the presidential residence, Sheetal Niwas.

President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath in the presence of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, and National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal.Former Supreme Court Justice Anil Kumar Sinha was sworn in as Minister for Industry, Law and Land Management.

National Innovation Center founder Mahabir Pun became Minister for Education, Science and Technology. Veteran journalist Jagdish Kharel assumed the role of Minister for Communications and Information Technology, while expert Dr. Madan Pariyar took charge of the Agriculture and Livestock Development portfolio.

Prime Minister Karki recommended the appointments, bringing her interim cabinet to eight members.Dr. Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra, earlier proposed for the Health and Population Ministry, was placed on hold at the last moment. She had recently resigned as Additional Secretary at the MoHP.Karki was appointed interim prime minister on September 12 after the fall of the KP Sharma Oli government, following the Gen Z protests of September 8–9.
