Colombo, October 3 (Daily Mirror) – Further revisions to the Penal Code may be made if necessary, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today (3), noting that although amendments had already been prepared and presented to Parliament, they have not yet been passed.

Speaking at the religious ceremony at the historic Magul Maduwa in Kandy, where the Śrī Sannas Pathra was presented to the Most Venerable Naranpanawe Ananda Nayake Thero as the newly appointed Anunayake of the Asgiri Chapter, the President stressed that these laws are not intended for personal gain but for the common good.

He added that the Government’s broader vision is to build a stronger and better state, a task that requires fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to the ruling party, with important roles assigned to the Mahanayaka Theros.
