Insurance claims from GenZ unrest climb to Rs 22.25bln in Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Insurance Board has revealed that property-damage claims related to the September GenZ protests have surged to Rs 22.25 billion and are still rising.

Bagmati Province alone accounts for Rs 17.97 billion of the total, according to the Board. Eighteen insurance companies, including micro-insurers, have so far received 2,478 claims.

Oriental Insurance tops the list with Rs 5.23 billion in estimated losses, followed by Siddhartha Insurance with Rs 5.08 billion.Officials expect additional claims as more affected businesses and households come forward.
