Internet-Social Media Outage Across Pakistan

Users across Pakistan are facing serious problems in using internet and social media. Although the internet is functional in the country, its speed is constantly decreasing. Even if there is a connection somewhere, the speed is quite low. As a result, business is being disrupted. Internet connection providers are not able to say anything about this. The regulatory agency Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has closed its mouth.

Pakistani media Dawn reported this news in a report.

Some users believe that the government has installed a firewall to increase surveillance on users. And that is what caused this disruption. However, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) denied the claim.

A senior PTA official said, “There have been many questions about the reason for the internet outage, but we have not received any complaints yet.” The cause of the outage remains unclear as there has been no official communication with PTA officials claiming that the system is working. But users are waiting for updates and fixes.

Major online platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp seem to be the most monitored. Users have reported slowness and difficulty running messaging and social media applications.

An internet service provider (ISP) in Pakistan says millions of people who depend on these platforms for communication, business and daily tasks are in trouble. The ISP also complained of continuous problems in providing services to users since last week.

WhatsApp is down completely. Users cannot upload and download content.

Many users are unable to send or receive messages or download media through the app, the ISP said.

Other social media platforms like Facebook are experiencing slow and uploading problems.
