Mass hunger strike across India after Kejriwal’s arrest
Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in India is once again in a state of protest. Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and supporters erupted in protests. They are on mass hunger strike across India. Apart from Delhi, the supporters started this hunger strike in several cities including Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Bengaluru on Sunday. Indian media NDTV reported this news.
The party leaders are protesting the arrest of the Chief Minister at the historic Jantar Mantar in Delhi. They will protest from the day of his arrest on March 21. Delhi minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai said that people of the entire country are angry since the Chief Minister’s arrest. They are on the road. Arrest of leaders and supporters is going on. Still they are protesting in the streets. AAP has posted pictures of mass hunger strike on social media.
In this regard, Delhi Education Minister Atishi Marlina said, Delhiites do not consider Arvind Kejriwal as the Chief Minister. They consider the Chief Minister as their brother or son. So they hit the streets for that. He further said that BJP’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have not been able to show even a penny in the excise corruption case involving AAP leaders.
ED had summoned Kejriwal nine times in Delhi excise case. But eight times he skipped attendance. After that he was arrested by ED. He will remain in Tihar Jail till April 15. This is the first time that an Indian Chief Minister has been arrested while in office.
