Modi announced the return of state status to Jammu and Kashmir
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that statehood will soon be restored to Jammu and Kashmir and assembly elections will be held there soon. Narendra Modi made this announcement at an election rally in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. For this he urged the locals to vote for BJP.
On Friday (April 12), the Indian news media India Today reported this information.
Narendra Modi said the time is not too far when assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir as well. Everyone will choose their own MLAs and Ministers.
Jammu and Kashmir was granted special status under Article 370 of the Constitution of India. However, after coming to power for the second time on August 5, 2019, the Modi government canceled the related Article 370.
Due to this clause in the constitution, Jammu and Kashmir enjoyed more autonomy than other states in India. The region in the foothills of the Himalayas was also given the right to its own constitution and a separate flag.
According to media reports, the state of Jammu and Kashmir was completely erased and converted into two separate Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu-Kashmir. After the abrogation of the Article, several cases were filed in the Supreme Court challenging the central government’s move. The Supreme Court announced the verdict in December last year.
The decision of the central government was upheld by the court verdict. The court ruled that this decision of the government is not unconstitutional. However, the court also directed to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest and hold elections by September this year.
The India Today report said that statehood would be restored to Jammu and Kashmir, but it did not say whether the abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution would be brought back.
He said, so far what he has seen in this regard is only the trailer. I have to get down to the task of creating a new and beautiful image of Jammu and Kashmir.
