Foreign leaders gave valuable gifts to US President Joe Biden and his family in 2023. The most valuable gift was given by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The gift given to Biden’s wife Jill Biden is a diamond, worth $20,000 (more than Rs. 24.5 lakh).
This information has been revealed in the annual financial report of the US State Department.
According to national policy, there is a rule to publish the gifts that Jill Biden received from foreign leaders during the 4 years that Joe Biden was the President of the United States.
It has been seen that the 7.5-carat diamond that the First Lady received in 2023 is the most expensive.
She also received a brooch worth $14,000 from Ukraine. 90 percent of the world’s diamonds are processed in the city of Surat, Gujarat, India.
India is trying to capture this market after the US and European Union banned the import of Russian diamonds.
President Biden has also received several valuable gifts from foreign leaders. Among them is a commemorative photo album given by South Korea’s impeached President Yun Suk-yeol, worth $7,100. A sculpture of Mongolian warriors worth $3,495 was given by the country’s prime minister.
The Sultan of Brunei gave a silver pot worth $3,300. The Israeli president gave a silver tray worth $3,160. And Biden received a work of art made up of various photos from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, worth $2,400.
