In the ongoing saga of cross-border accusations, the Islamic Emirate has once again denied allegations of Afghan soil being used against other countries, particularly Pakistan.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews that in some cases, opportunistic individuals use Pakistan’s soil to enter Afghanistan.
Zabihullah Mujahid said: “We also have cases where individuals under the name of Daesh have come from Pakistan, conducted operations here, and have been arrested. They are currently in prison, but we have not yet claimed that the Pakistani government has done this. However, in general, security issues are important for both countries.”
Mujahid emphasized that the Islamic Emirate is committed to what it has pledged to the world.
However, tensions escalated as the Pakistani army claimed that recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan were orchestrated from Afghan soil.
The statement by Pakistani army read: “Of late, Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist incidents orchestrated from Afghan soil, wherein terrorists from Afghanistan attempt to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and target security forces as well as innocent civilians.”
Kamran Aman, a military analyst, told TOLOnews: “They are accusing the Afghan people to avoid seeing Afghanistan have a stable and central government, and they want to exploit any disorder in Afghanistan.”
Hadi Quraishi, another military analyst, says: “The terrorism that exists in Afghanistan, whether they refer to it as Daesh or TTP, does not exist here. These are their internal issues, and they don’t know how to handle it within their own government, and unjustly accuse our government.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan in a statement Wednesday called for the establishment of an inclusive government, following of human rights, and taking more serious steps in combating terrorism in Afghanistan.
