Washington: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the officials of the Bangladesh embassy in Washington, DC to work with sincerity and patriotism to further enhance Bangladesh’s image.

The prime minister made the call while exchanging views with them during her visit to the mission on Wednesday, according to an embassy statement.

She also went around different parts of the embassy, including its Shaheed Minar and Bangabandhu Corner.

On her arrival at the embassy, the prime minister was received by Bangladesh Ambassador to the US Muhammad Imran with a flower bouquet.

The prime minister first paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath on his bust at the Bangabandhu Corner of the embassy. She stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of profound respect to the Father of the Nation.

She was accompanied by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Ambassador-at-Large Mohammad Ziauddin, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and senior officials of the Prime Minister’s Office, including Secretary Mohammad Salahuddin.

The prime minister laid the foundation of the Chancery Building in 1997 and inaugurated the newly constructed building in 2000.
