Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has resigned as president of his party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

He announced his resignation on Monday (May 13), Geo News reported in a report.

Leaving the post, Shahbaz Sharif said that the time has come to understand the right position of his elder brother and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as the party chief.

PML-N information secretary Maryam Aurangzeb confirmed Shahbaz Sharif’s resignation as party chief in an ex-post.

Shahbaz Sharif wrote in his resignation letter along with the general secretary of the party that he had to take the post of party president in 2017 amid political deadlock. But Nawaz Sharif was discriminated against through this. Because then Nawaz had to leave the post of party president and prime minister of the country.

Shahbaz said that he was entrusted with the post of PML-N president. Now he is leaving this post. Because he thinks, the time has come to understand the correct position of Nawaz Sharif.

A central committee meeting of PML-N has been called in Lahore on the morning of May 18. In that meeting, the next decision may be taken about the post of the party’s president.

It should be noted that Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is the brother of former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif. Uncle of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
