Taliban Asks China’s Support for Afghanistan at Intl Level

Kabul: The Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, Abdul Salam Hanafi, in a meeting with Li Qun, China Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Zhao Xing, the Chinese ambassador to Kabul, requested that China continue supporting Afghanistan’s position on the international level as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

The Arg in a statement said that Abdul Salam Hanafi also expressed appreciation for China’s support as an important economic and political partner of the Islamic Emirate, and highlighted that China has been a good friend to Afghanistan throughout history.

In the statement, it is mentioned that Hanafi added that the Islamic Emirate will not allow any country to use Afghanistan’s territory against China and other countries.

Hamdullah Fetrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said: “The Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs expressed appreciation for China’s support as an economic and political partner of Afghanistan and said that China should continue its support for the Islamic Emirate’s position on the international level as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.”

“China’s membership in those global organizations can be influential, and if China sincerely wishes, it can help Afghanistan overcome its current challenges,” said Edris Mohammadi Zazi, a political analyst.

Meanwhile, this Chinese delegation, in separate meetings with interim government officials, stressed its commitment to the preservation of historical artifacts in the Mes Aynak mine in Logar, stating that this country has a lot of experience in mining amid historical artifacts.

They described the current relations between the two countries as positive and stressed that cultural cooperation between Beijing and Kabul could pave the way for cooperation in other sectors as well.

“We hope that in the current conditions when this project starts, they should be very serious about not damaging our historical areas and preserving the Buddha statues and other artifacts located there,” said Najibullah Ahrar, a cultural activist.

Islamic Emirate officials, in their meeting with the Chinese delegation, also said the Wakhan road and the Mes Aynak project in Logar are important for expanding economic relations between the two countries and emphasized the start of practical work on the Mes Aynak copper mine.

Analysts said that China is one of the countries that has expanded its relations with the interim government since the Islamic Emirate’s return to power.

“Wakhan is one of the national projects, and connecting with China can free us from the monopoly of neighbors and lead us towards self-sufficiency,” said Mohammad Nabi Afghan, an economic analyst.

After the Islamic Emirate’s return to power, China was the first country to accept an Islamic Emirate ambassador in its capital.
