Voting in 102 constituencies in India today

India’s Lok Sabha elections begin today Friday. On this day, 17 states and four Union Territories will vote in 102 constituencies.

Voting will start at 7 am local time on Friday and will continue till 6 pm. The number of candidates in the first phase is 1 thousand 625 people. A maximum of 39 constituencies will be voted on this day in Tamil Nadu. In addition to the Lok Sabha, polling will be held in 60 assembly seats of Arunachal and 32 assembly seats of Sikkim.

Indian media Anandabazar says that in the first phase, polling will be held in two constituencies each in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Meghalaya. Polling will be held in one seat each in Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.

Note that Manipur has two Lok Sabha constituencies. Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur. However, the Election Commission has decided to divide Outer Manipur and hold the polls in two phases. Polling will be held in 15 assembly constituencies of Churachandpur and Chandel districts of Outer Manipur on Friday. Voting in the remaining 13 will be held on April 26 in the second phase.

Polling will be held today in four constituencies of Bihar, five of Uttarakhand, six of Maharashtra, eight of Uttar Pradesh and 12 of Rajasthan.
