West Bengal Minister Praises Muslims in Bangladesh

India’s ruling BJP government is vocal about the alleged attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh. The BJP has also taken to the streets in West Bengal regarding this.

In such a situation, West Bengal Minister Maulana Siddiqullah Chowdhury has made explosive comments on the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh. He has commented that the Indian government’s position on Hindus in Bangladesh is ‘exaggerated’.

At the same time, this minister of the West Bengal Public Education and Library Department considers the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh to be an internal matter of that country.

Siddiqullah Chowdhury said that the BJP is playing unnecessary politics over Hindus in Bangladesh. Hindus are in various important administrative positions in Bangladesh. Police station OCs, judges, police superintendents, district administrators – don’t they see these? Don’t they see that madrasa students are guarding temples and giving them the opportunity to worship?

Regarding Chinmoy Das, Siddiqullah said, “Whether he is a monk or an imam, he is a criminal if he commits a crime. Crime is a crime.” I have been in politics for 40 years, has any crime ever been proven against me?

Referring to the recent incidents as Bangladesh’s internal matter, he said, “If there is atrocity, it must be condemned, but it is Bangladesh’s internal matter. Those involved in these incidents are unstable people.”

Referring to the demolition of the Babri Masjid, he said, “When Bangladesh commented on the demolition of the Babri Masjid, Modiji clearly said that it is India’s internal matter. Similarly, Bangladesh said about Professor Yunus that it is their internal matter.”

Maulana Siddiqullah Chowdhury is the West Bengal state president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. The party’s central president is Maulana Syed Mahmud Madani.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind is the largest and oldest platform of Indian Muslims. This organization was born from the anti-British movement. This party has made a huge contribution to the freedom struggle of the subcontinent.
