What the Lankan President said about Sheikh Hasina’s stay in India
Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has commented that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country to India in the face of intense popular revolution, should stay in India.
Recently, the Lankan president said this in a special interview given to the Indian media Firstpost.
In the interview, when asked about Sheikh Hasina and India’s action on the Bangladesh issue, Wickramasinghe said, “First, stability must be restored in Bangladesh – people must first be given confidence.” The issue of Sheikh Hasina is a political issue. A political decision has to be taken in this regard. Many leaders left their country and went abroad. Then they live abroad. I will give priority now… that Bangladesh remains stable’.
The Lankan president also said, “If Hasina is outside the country, then let her stay outside.” I think stability should return to the country soon. Army needs. We all want Bangladesh to focus on normality and involve the common people in how the country will run.
Sri Lanka also had a mass revolution in 2022 like Bangladesh. Faced with public anger, then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country.
Then Ranil Wickramasinghe became the country’s president. New presidential elections will be held in the country on September 21. Ranil can check his popularity in this.
