19 people lost their lives due to lightning in Bihar
At least 19 people were killed and seven injured after lightning struck India’s eastern state of Bihar.
The Indian Express on Sunday reported that heavy rains and thunderstorms along with lightning have affected 10 districts of the state in the last 24 hours.
People working for food and taking shelter under trees during rains are the most casualties.
State Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed grief over these deaths and announced a donation of Rs 4 lakh each to the family members of the deceased.
Along with this, the Chief Minister urged the people to follow the advice issued by the concerned department to avoid such incidents.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for the next 24 hours. It has also forecast heavy rains with thunder and lightning over north, south-east and south-central parts of Bihar.
Every year hundreds of people are killed by lightning in India as the monsoon season begins.
