27 dead due to heavy rain and lightning in Pakistan

At least 27 people died in heavy rain and lightning in Pakistan. Several others were injured.

Heavy rain, thunder and hailstorm occurred on Saturday (April 27) in several districts including Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. At least 22 people have died. Rain continues. As a result, the death toll is expected to rise. News The Dawn

Besides, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has received heavy rainfall in the last two days. At least 5 people have died. 8 others were injured. Local media ARI reported this news.

As reported by Dawn, Quetta in Balochistan received rain, thunder and hail since the day on Saturday. It flooded the main roads of the city. The flash floods washed away numerous houses and caused massive traffic jams in various areas.

A large tanker carrying natural gas (LPG) from Iran overturned on the Quetta-Taftan highway in Balochistan’s Noshki district. The highway was inundated by floodwaters and overturned by the current. However, the driver and assistants managed to get out safely.

Balochistan’s Bolan River, Norigz-Mula River and other tributaries are overflowing with flood water. Heavy rains are occurring in the basin areas of these rivers.

Besides, the temperature has decreased in some areas of Ziarat, Quetta, Kalat, Khan Mehtarzai, Pishin and North Balochistan. People are forced to turn on gas heaters and wear warm clothes to keep their homes warm.

The capital city of Balochistan recently witnessed two heavy rainfalls. It caused extensive damage to many houses and roads in the city. Not only the low-lying areas, but also major parts of Quetta suffered extensive damage.

Then last week heavy rains and floods occurred in northwestern and southwestern Pakistan. At least 99 people lost their lives during this time. Another 89 people were injured.

According to the Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority, 46 people died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 26 in Punjab, 15 in Balochistan and 11 in Kashmir. During four days of continuous rain, these deaths mainly occurred due to roof collapse, road accidents and drowning in flood water.
