A flydubai flight carrying two Israeli nationals made an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan. The plane was going to Sri Lanka.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry said on Thursday (July 11) that the plane landed in Karachi at night.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan also said that they have worked with everyone else to ensure the security of the Israelis. The plane later left for Sri Lanka with two Israelis on board, the country said.
Many countries of the world, including Pakistan, do not have diplomatic relations with Israel, which was created by occupying the Palestinian territories. Major Muslim countries generally recognize Palestine as a state. They don’t think of Israel as a country.
Israel has no diplomatic relations with the most powerful country in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia. However, in recent times, Saudi Arabia has discussed establishing relations with Israel. And to prevent the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, the Gaza-based armed group Hamas attacked various illegal settlements in Israel on October 7 last year. Then the process was suspended.
Last year, Saudi Arabia was going to recognize Israel as a state without establishing an independent Palestinian state. But after the attack of Hamas, they withdrew from this position. Now the Saudis are saying that if Israel wants to recognize them, they must first establish a Palestinian state.
