Maldives President Muizzu departs on first official visit to Turkey
President Muizzu is accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level government delegation.
Male: Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who assumed office on November 17 of this month, departed for Turkey this morning on his first official visit.
The President’s Office said that, during his visit at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President Muizzu will meet with Turkish officials to discuss mutual collaboration and further strengthening of diplomatic relations.
President Muizzu is accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level government delegation.
President Muizzu’s first official visit was initially scheduled for Saudi Arabia. However, the visit was postponed to a later date, and the President chose to travel to Turkey instead. The visit to Saudi Arabia will now be followed by his trip to Turkey.
The President is expected to return to the Maldives on Thursday after attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP 28, scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates on November 30, 2023.
