The body that floated in the Teesta is that of the former minister of India

The police have identified the unidentified body found in Teesta stream of Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat as that of the former education minister of the Indian state of Sikkim, RC Ramchandra Paudel. The half-decomposed body of the former minister has been handed over.

The body was handed over to the Indian authorities through Burimari land port on Tuesday night, said Mahmud-un-Nabi, OC of Aditmari police station.

The half-decomposed body was recovered from the bank of Teesta river in Govardhan village of Mahishkhocha union of the upazila on Monday. As the water in the river receded, it got stuck on the sand.

Later, the police sent messages to various police stations in the country as well as to India to find out the identity of the body. Indian authorities said on Tuesday that the body was that of Ram Chandra Paudial, the former education minister of Sikkim state.

OC Mahmud-un-Nabi said, “The relatives of the family confirmed the identity by looking at the watch and body structure.”

Then at night the police took the body from Adimari to Burimari for handover.

BSF members including Mekhligonj Divisional Police Officer Ashish P Subba, Mekhligonj Police Station OC Mithun Biswas, Ram Chandra Paudial’s daughter-in-law Neel Sheikh, Aditmari Police Station OC Mahamud-un-Nabi, Patgram Police Station SI Kawsar Hossain, Burimari Sthalbandar BGB Checkpost Commander Hafizur Rahman were present during the handover of the body. was
