Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that the government, formed with the participation of two major political parties, will ensure stability in the country.

Speaking to the secretaries of the government at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Tuesday, he justified the new alliance, saying the previous government’s failure in service delivery and the lack of public trust made the new coalition inevitable.

“CPN-UML and Nepali Congress have played significant roles in the country’s economic and social transformation. They have been pivotal in the struggle from the Rana regime to the monarchy. Hence, this government bears an extraordinary responsibility. It is not allowed to fail,” Oli said during a meeting attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, ministers, and other high-ranking officials.

Addressing those sceptical about the government’s longevity, he said that he would resign a week before completing two years in office as per the agreement, paving the way for Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to lead and send a message of stability.

“Therefore, this government will not collapse, not even waver. Officials should work confidently; the government will take responsibility for its actions,” Oli assured.

Deserting the coalition with the CPN-Maoist Centre, Oli allied with Congress and became Prime Minister on July 13.
