Pakistan claims the city of India as its own

Pakistan claims a city in the western tip of India as its own.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Spokesperson of Pakistan Foreign Office, claimed this in a recent press conference.

This information has been given in a report of Pakistan-based media The Nation.

Mumtaz Zahra said that since 1948, India has occupied the city of Junagadh in Gujarat. It was annexed to Pakistan at the time of partition. Pakistan sees it from a historical and legal point of view.

He also said that India’s illegal occupation of Junagadh is a violation of the UN Charter and international norms.

Pakistan considers Junagadh as an unfinished agenda like India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he said, now they want a peaceful solution to Junagadh.

Pakistan’s claim about Junagadh is not new. After Nepal in 2020, Pakistan included several regions of India in its political map. The Cabinet of Pakistan also approved it.

Parts of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were placed on the map. At the same time, the cities of Junagadh and Manavgarh in Gujarat and Sir Creek region were also claimed as part of Pakistan.

This spokesperson of Pakistan’s Foreign Office also spoke about the Bangladesh issue in the press conference. Mumtaz Zahra said, Pakistan always wants strong, multifaceted, friendly relations with Bangladesh; which is an important partner for Pakistan and a brotherly Muslim country.

“There is immense goodwill between the people of our two countries and we want our bilateral relations to prosper. We believe that cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh will further contribute to peace and friendship in the region and further develop SAARC as a strong institution,” he added.
