What India said about Adani’s power supply reduction in Bangladesh
The Indian government has no role in the issue of Adani’s power supply to Bangladesh, the country’s Ministry of External Affairs has said. Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said this in a weekly briefing on Saturday.
He said, this is an agreement between a private company and the Bangladesh government. The matter is related to the terms of the agreement between the two parties and the Indian government has no role in this agreement. Therefore, I do not have any information to inform you about this now.
Recently, India’s Adani Power Jharkhand Limited has reduced the power supply to Bangladesh by half. It is said that they have taken this decision after not receiving the due bills on time. Randhir Jaiswal was asked about this in the briefing of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

According to information from Power Grid Bangladesh, the Adani plant stopped half the power supply from midnight last Thursday. The 1,496-megawatt power plant is currently generating about 700 megawatts of electricity from one unit, which has affected the national production. Earlier, they wrote to the power secretary asking the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) to pay the outstanding bills by October 30.
Otherwise, they warned that the supply may be stopped from October 31, 2024.
According to the latest information, Adani’s dues have not been paid so far. Due to this, the authorities of the plant have reduced the power supply.
