Ishaq Dar is the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was appointed to this post on Sunday.

According to the news of Anadolu Agency, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, has given the new responsibility to Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office said in a statement that the Prime Minister has appointed Foreign Affairs Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister with immediate effect and until further orders.

Ishaq Dar is currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the World Economic Forum conference.

Pakistani media reported that Ishaq Dar will continue to perform his duties as foreign minister despite the new appointment.

Ishaq Dar is part of Pakistan’s ruling Sharif family. Ishaq Dar’s son got married to the daughter of Pakistan’s three-time former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, elder brother of current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In March this year, Ishaq Dar was appointed as the foreign minister of Pakistan. Earlier he was the finance minister of Pakistan several times. Appointments to the post of Deputy Prime Minister are very rare in the Government of Pakistan.
