Male: Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid is set to embark on an official visit to India today.

At the invitation of Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister Shahid will undertake a two-day visit, departing for New Delhi today, according to the Ministry.

The visit, scheduled for July 11 and 12, will include official engagements aimed at further enhancing bilateral relations and signing additional agreements in the social and economic sectors, the Ministry said.

During the visit, Minister Shahid will also be delivering the 43rd Sapru House Lecture (SHL) at the Indian Council for World Affairs and meet with a number of Non-Resident Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to the Maldives based in New Delhi.

This visit builds upon the close ties between the Maldivian government and India, with Minister Shahid having previously made several official visits to India, and Indian External Affairs Minister Subramanian Swamy having visited the Maldives three times in official capacity.
