Kathmandu: Nepal Foreign Minister NP Saud left on a three-day visit to Thailand on Sunday to attend the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) foreign ministers’ retreat.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement said the event to be held in Bangkok on Monday will discuss pertinent agendas of cooperation under the regional intergovernmental organisation.

During the trip, the foreign minister will hold talks with his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar on the sideline of the meeting, the second after Saud assumed his office on April 16. The two foreign ministers met for the first time on the sideline of an event of the India-Foundation in Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister Saud will also call on Prayut Chan-o-Cha, prime minister of Thailand, and interact with his counterparts from the region on issues of common interests, according to the foreign ministry.
