South Eastern University, Sri Lanka — In a stirring convocation address delivered at South Eastern University, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Khalid bin Hamoud Al Kahtani, encouraged graduating students to see their academic milestone not as an end, but as the beginning of a lifelong journey marked by growth, innovation, and responsibility.

Addressing the graduates, Ambassador Al Kahtani said, “Today is a special day in our lives when we come together to celebrate years of hard work, dedication, and learning. Graduation is not just the conclusion of our academic chapter, but the beginning of great responsibility and a new sense of hope.”

He reminded students of the broader role they must play in society, emphasizing values such as integrity, loyalty, and responsibility. “You are now honoured with the crown of knowledge,” he said. “Rise to meet the responsibility it preaches. You are ambassadors of knowledge—great in your field, and a source of pride to your family and community.”

Ambassador Al Kahtani also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to investing in education and human capital, stating that the nation’s roadmap for the future strongly emphasizes sustainable development through intellectual empowerment. “The most valuable investment is in minds and human capitalism, which forms the foundation of a successful and sustainable future,” he added.

He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the faculty and administration of South Eastern University for their dedication and acknowledged the vital role of parents in their children’s academic journey. “They are true parents,” he said, lauding their support and commitment.

The Ambassador concluded his speech with a call for continued educational cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka, expressing optimism for strengthening academic ties in the future.
