The street play ‘Barren Revolution’ was staged to protest the oppression of Uighurs
Dhaka: On the occasion of East Turkistan’s April 5th Barren Revolution Day, the street drama ‘Barren Revolution’ was staged in front of the National Press Club at 3:30 pm on Wednesday (April 5) to commemorate the victims and to protest against the torture of a large number of Uyghurs in China.
Samad Bhuiyan and his troupe staged this road play to protest the cultural hostility, threats and persecution of Uyghur Muslims in China.
Barren Revolution Day is celebrated internationally by the Uyghur community to remember those killed on this day. On April 5, 1990, about 1,000 Uyghurs were brutally killed in the logical movement of the Uyghur minority in Barren City, China.
This street play was organized by Open Dialogue Bangladesh (ODB), an organization that has been working against the oppression of Uyghurs in Bangladesh for a long time. It stars Abdur Rahman Rakib, Ashraful Habib, Sumi Akhtar, Nabil Mahmud Sabbir, Abida Sultana, Ramzan Mia, Rifat Alam and Samad Bhuiyan.
