Two-week ‘deadline’ to release Imran
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has set two weeks for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. At the same time, the party has promised to strengthen the movement. PTI held a huge rally on the outskirts of Islamabad on Sunday, where there was a clash with the police.
Geo News reported that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur gave this ultimatum while addressing PTI supporters at a rally held in Sanjani area.
He said, “If the founder of PTI is not released in accordance with the law within one to two weeks, we will release him ourselves.”
According to Geo News, PTI’s rally started in Islamabad amid tight security. Leaders of the party gathered at Sanjani area, the venue, and despite roadblocks at various places, a series of processions headed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister marched towards the city.
Earlier, the rally started with PTI leader Hammad Azhar’s address to the crowd. Where he said, the ruling rulers’ obstruction of the rally proved that they were afraid of the imprisoned Imran Khan and his supporters.
At the time, he hinted at starting a movement in Punjab and urged party workers to be ‘ready’.
Besides, politician Sher Afzal Marwat also reiterated the same. He said that they will soon hold a rally in Punjab for the release of Imran who is in jail and the establishment of rule of law.
Afzal also said that we will enter Punjab with 50 thousand people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within a week.
Meanwhile, party leader Muhammad Ali Khan said, they never thought that Imran Khan would have to go to jail. Besides, he expressed regret that many other PTI leaders including R Qasim Suri, Shehryar Afridi and Murad Saeed were forced to leave the country. If Imran is not released, the rulers will be ‘floated in the sea of people’. Muhammad Ali Khan also called for constitutional reform and re-establishment of the rule of law.
